General News / Murderer of Iniubong Umoren Sentenced to Death by Hanging; Attempts to Escape Courtroom

Twenty-one year old convict, Uduak Akpan, has been sentenced to death by hanging on Thursday, 4th of August 2022. This was after he was found guilty of the murder of Iniubong Umoren, a lady he lured to his father's house by promising to offer her a job on April 2021, in Akwa Ibom state.

After the judge, Nkanang, announced the verdict that Akpan was to be put to death by hanging, the culprit attempted to escape from the court. However, the security agents did a good job by stopping him.

His not only murdering the deceased, but also having carnal knowledge of her bagged him life imprisonment.

The commissioner for justice in a statement revealed that that he was not taken aback by the event. He said he had envisaged such, which was why the securities were at alert to prevent his escape.

The elder brother of the deceased said that he was happy that justice was served, alas. Her elder sister also implored the federal and state government to provide employment for youths to prevent them from falling prey to such horrible events.

Justice was served appropriately, and this would serve as a deterrent to people to desist from bad behaviors, hence, leading to a reduction in moral decadence.
