Meet Dr Layi, The Aspiring AVMS President

Olayiwola Zaccheaus Akinkunmi, known by most people as Dr Layi, is a DVM IV student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan. He was born and bred in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, before coming to the University of Ibadan, for his tertiary education.

Growing up in a middle-class society, he learned the basic approach to living and now finds it easier manoeuvering through life as an adult. Also raised by parents who are teachers by profession, he was instilled with morals, which he grew up with, and is moulding the kind of man he is becoming.

He is a believer, a lover of Christ, and he lives by the standard of The Bible, which guides his dealings.

According to Dr Layi, he is vying for the position of the President of AVMS UI, because he wants to give back his little quota to the association and see to the betterment of AVMS UI, and its members.

Apart from studying veterinary medicine, which takes up the bulk of his time, Dr Layi is a young researcher, with an interest in Neuroscience and drug discovery.

He is currently interning in the Cardio-Renal Laboratory, at the University of Ibadan, where he is understudying a Ph.D. student.

He has also been involved in a couple of studies that he considers building blocks for his research career.
