A New Session, the New Administration, and the Hopes of AVMS UI Members
The school has been in session for a few weeks now, and classes resumed in full swing almost immediately, as is the usual practice of the faculty. Everywhere you turn, a vet student is complaining about the workload and how tired they are.
A new administration of executives was sworn in at the end of the last semester, and they have also started functioning. They were short of a few members, so the IVMSEC conducted by-elections. This event generated much interest due to the intense competition between electoral candidates for some positions.
It was a pleasant change from the norm in vet elections; most of the time, only one candidate is interested in running for a position. But this begs the question: where were these people during the last semester elections?
While campaigning to be elected, the current executives talked about many good ideas they would like to put in place if elected. It is still too early in the session to determine if they will stay true to their words, but the prospects seem promising.
If we were to judge them based on the manifestos they presented and their history, they are a group of brilliant minds who would stop at nothing to achieve their goals. And I speak for all members of the AVMS UI when I say that we would love to see that happen.
One significant problem that past administrations have faced is a shortage of funds. Events were often canceled because there was no money to pull them off successfully. As a result, our faculty is no longer known for hosting the Dog Show that used to attract visitors from all over the country.
We don’t know if the current administration will be able to pull it off and perform better than the previous ones did in all aspects. There isn’t much we can do but sit back and watch.
As they must know, the hopes of all association members are pinned on them. At the end of this tenure, we hope that they will have implemented their plans and been impactful
