The AVMS-UI brand of the week is Broadway Bookx. In this article, we interviewed the brain behind Broadway Bookx, and she lets us into the world of books, where learning has no end.

Blessing Sodeinde: Thank you for coming to this interview with me. My name is Blessing. Can you introduce yourself to our audience?

Ifeoluwakishii Ajiyo: Good day, everyone. My name is Ifeoluwakishii Ajiyo, a DVM V student. I am the founder of the AVMS-UI brand of the week — Broadway Bookx, and I am quite honored to feature in this interview.

B. S: Good to meet you, Ifeoluwakishii Ajiyo. I understand that “Broadway Bookx” is a brand that holds so much meaning to you. Can you enlighten us about the brand, and what it stands for?

 

I. A: As stated earlier, the name of my brand is Broadway Bookx. At Broadway Bookx, we sell books across many genres. We believe that reading can be a journey of mind expansion to challenge our beliefs, and inspire us to become the best versions of ourselves.

B. S: Wow! When did you launch “Broadway Bookx?”

I. A: I have been doing this for four years, but I started Broadway Bookx last year in July.

B. S: If I may ask, what inspired you to start a book business?

I. A: I was inspired by what I was learning. Books expanded my mind and thinking capacity a lot, so I wanted everyone to have the same opportunity.

B. S: Aww! You must be a superwoman, though, because how do you combine owning a brand with vet school?

I. A: It is not as bad as you would think. You get used to it and enjoy the thrill occasionally.

B. S: Haha. All right. What was the inspiration behind the name, “Broadway bookx?”

I. A: The name "Broadway" implies that the way to success is a broad one, regardless of what each one of us defines success as, and knowledge is one of the ways. You cannot apply what you do not know.

B.S: That's enlightening. So, there are thousands of brands all over the world whose focus is also on books. What distinguishes you from all the other book brands out there?

I. A: At Broadway Bookx, we do not sell books just for the fun of it or only to make money. We are also very intentional about personal growth and development, which is why we are currently running an online Book Club. The book club is a community where we hold each other accountable for reading and discussing insights about books. There is a membership fee of N1,000 for each book we read, and that lasts about two months.

B. S: Fascinating! What genres of books do you sell at Broadway Bookx?

I. A: We offer mostly nonfiction books on sales, like books on self-development, finance, business/entrepreneurship, Christian literature, history, leadership, public speaking, biography/memoir, and a bit of fiction.

B. S: Wow! That's a lot! Can you give a review of one book you sell that you think is a must-have for every vet student?

I. A: This is a tricky question. I believe financial literacy is essential for everyone regardless of their discipline. Only financial literacy can lead to financial independence, so I will recommend that every veterinary medicine student get “The Psychology of Money” by Morgan Housel.
