IVSA UNIBADAN Completes Handover Ceremony, Welcomes New Executives.

The International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA) Member Organization in UNIBADAN held a vibrant handover ceremony on July 20, 2024, marking the installation of its new executive team. 


The event, hosted by two energetic MCs, captivated the audience and began with the recognition of esteemed guests, including Dr. T. O Ajibade; the outgoing IVSA UNIBADAN President - Mikail Fasanya; the IVSA National President - Ahmed Saheed; The Subdean Undergraduate - Dr. Anifowoshe; and the former UISU President - Adewole Mascot. 



Former executives presented detailed reports of their tenures, discussing their achievements and offering recommendations for the future. 


Here are some highlights:


  • The outgoing Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, Abdussalam Fatihah underscored the importance of the seamless, free, and fair adoption of e-voting, while addressing challenges such as late interest from members. Her recommendations included enhancing e-voting processes and encouraging early engagement from potential candidates.


  • The outgoing Treasurer, Adigun Hellen, provided a comprehensive financial report, detailing the association's funds, sponsorships, and project expenses. 


  • The outgoing General Secretary, Adetoyan Enoch, reported an increase in membership, from 55 to 128 members during his tenure.  He then emphasized the need for improved communication and teamwork.


  • The Office of Exchange had successfully conducted four exchanges in the last tenure, much to the delight of the members.  The outgoing Chairperson of the Recruitment and Membership Review Committee, Ajibade Favour, highlighted the importance of effective publicity and media engagement. 


  • The outgoing Project Manager, Adeyemi Adeshubomi, expressed gratitude to the past president and urged incoming executives to seek support from members.


  • The outgoing Chairperson of the Grant and Scholarships Innovation Committee, Olowu Babatunde announced that eight members have been successfully trained in academic CV writing. He spoke about a grant for the treatment of stray animals, set to begin soon. He noted challenges like conflicting schedules and advised maintaining this office for continued success.


  • The outgoing Constitutional Review Committee Head, Itakorode Oluwasegun, expressed how honored he was to have participated in a once-in-four years event. His recommendation was that members adapt to a more time-friendly constitution. 


  • The outgoing Information Officer, Oyeyebi Qudus, advocated for collaborative initiatives to enhance professional development. 


  • The former President, Fasanya, Mikail Abiola, delivered a comprehensive report, acknowledging guests and outlining significant accomplishments. These achievements included enhancing the association’s presence on campus through leadership development, classroom tags, lapels for members, course enrollment, and vocational programs. Noteworthy achievements included reviving the dog show, school/community outreach programs, and sponsoring the fees for the NECO examinations of 4 secondary school students.


  • The National President, Ahmed Saheed, delivered a goodwill message, encouraging members to seize opportunities within IVSA. He gave some advice to the new executive members, and encouraged the members of the organization to attend the upcoming annual congress in September.




There was a brief photo session with awardees, and the event was concluded with a speech given by the newly installed President, Isa Abdulmajeed. He spoke with great emphasis on the need for collaboration, dedication, and enthusiasm among members. 


The MCs gave their closing remarks, bringing the successful event to a close.
